Owa gal not updating
In general, Outlook will automatically update the Offline Address Book (OAB) for Exchange accounts once every 24 hours.
When it didn’t or when you want to make sure you do have the latest OAB available, you could manually trigger an update from within Outlook as well.
Rather than waiting 24 hours for Outlook to update the Offline Address Book on its own, you can force an update via the Send/Receive menu button.
You can disable the option “Download changes since last Send/Receive” to make sure you get a complete fresh copy of the OAB but this could take longer to download.
Essentially, the issue is the GAL is not updating in Outlook. I looked at the recipient filter of the GAL, it's below for reference: (Alias -ne $null -and (Object Class -eq 'user' -or Object Class -eq 'contact' –or Object Class -eq 'ms Exch System Mailbox' -or Object Class –eq 'ms Exch Dynamic Distribution List' -or Object Class -eq 'group' -or Object Class –eq 'public Folder')) The next thing I'm going to try is creating a new GAL and making it the default, if necessary. That will force Outlook to download a complete GAL. If so, it is probably that the incremental update files haven't updated correctly.
We have another server in the wings waiting to be deployed, but we need to address the problem in the meantime. If it does not, then it is the generation or distribution process that is failing. OWA reflects the information correctly, but Outlook does not. I have tried deleting the OAB files, but when I download the address book, it still has the outdated version.
When you have multiple Exchange accounts configured, you’ll find a folder for each account that you have.
The quickest and most thorough method is to simply rename the If you are still having issues with your OAB afterwards or if the files aren’t being recreated after a manual update, it is very likely that your OAB issues are rooted deeper in your mail profile.
However sometimes in large complex organisations we have a situation where a new joiner joins and their colleagues want to email them immediately, but they don’t appear in Outlook for them so they call the Helpdesk “Why isn’t Joe Bloggs in the GAL??It had all of the up-to-date information until I did a manual send/receive of the address book. This document seeks to address and clarify the small misunderstanding surrounding the GAL (Global Address List) and the OAB (Offline Address Book). They do for my colleague sitting next to me, so I don’t think it is a server misconfiguration or something like that.
Is there any way I can force a manual update of the Offline Address Book (OAB) in Outlook or reset it completely otherwise? In that case, it is recommended to recreate your mail profile.
